NEWS ALERT: USPS Automated Package Verification (APV) Checks & Adjusts Shipping Costs

The USPS has launched an Automated Postage Verification (APV) program to ensure that proper postage is paid for every package shipped domestically. This program actively monitors that all postage paid for shipping labels matches the USPS assessed cost based on the weight, dimensions, box type, service selected, and origin and destination zip codes captured on their sorting equipment. If the USPS APV finds that postage paid was either too high or too low, the difference will be credited to or deducted from the sender's postage balance.

While most rate adjustments will occur within a few days of a package being sent, the USPS has up to 30 days after shipment to issue an adjustment.

Starting January 10, 2019, all VIPparcel account balances will be adjusted based on the USPS's APV corrections for the previous month's shipping fees. Any overpayments our customers made will be credited and any underpayments will be deducted.

Please note that incorrect postage paid will not delay package delivery time.

To ensure proper postage is paid when you print your shipping labels:

  • Verify that the proper mail class has been selected
  • Verify that the correct packaging has been used for the service selected
  • Verify that the weight and dimensions entered match your package

If you feel that any adjustments were made in error, you can dispute the charge with the USPS by contacting the USPS Automated Package Verification department directly: Email [email protected] or Tel 1-844-819-5187
